macchiato caldo

Literally a "marked" coffee, a macchiato can be among the most difficult drinks to prepare. It is espresso with just a touch of milk foam, which is the mark on the coffee. The macchiato caldo is the hot version of the drink, but it can also be served cold, or freddo.

ingredients:

  • 1 shot espresso (or double shot)
  • 1/3 cup milk

instructions:

For a macchiato you'll want just a touch of foam and mostly espresso in the mug.

Froth milk with the "hot froth" function. Pour the espresso shot(s) into a heat-safe mug, espresso cup preferred. Spoon the finished, rich milk foam on top of your espresso shot and enjoy.
